The aim of all slaves of Allah is only to please their Lord, The Creator. This can only be achieved by responding to his commands and obeying his laws. This is the essence of Islam, submitting to the commands of Allah and following His revelation with complete obedience. Thankfully Allah has not left His creation in darkness or ignorance without guidance about how to earn His pleasure and has laid down Islamic rules for all of our life affiars. Understanding these rules is the important science of Fiqh or jurisprudence, understanding the requests of Allah to mankind and the responsibility we hold toward those requests.

It is the knowledge of what is permitted and what is prohibited, what has been obliged upon us to do and what has been recommended for us in all aspects of our life from worship, to belief, to the actions of the heart, the tongue and the limbs at home, in trade, in government and in our public and private lives.
